ESL provides a boarding and landing service for pilots joining and leaving ships trading to London and Medway. These fast launches based at Ramsgate and Sheerness serve ships at the N.E. Spit Buoy, Margate Roads Anchorage, the Warps/Oaze Deep and the Anchorages at Southend and the Great Nore.

As part of a planned refit program, ESL where looking to upgrade the engine room fire suppression systems on four of their existing pilot boats. The refits would be carried out in different yards in the South East which wasn’t a problem for Marine Fire Safety as our engineers cover the whole of the UK.

As a result of the service and quality of goods ESL received from Marine Fire Safety, our Stat-X systems have been specified on the new vessels being built for ESL and Marine Fire Safety engineers also carry out the annual maintenance requirements on all of ESL boats with Stat-X systems installed.   

“As Engineering Manager of Estuary Services Ltd, it is essential that we install the best fire suppression system that is suitable for our Pilot vessels.  The Stat-X system suits our needs perfectly being both light in weight, small in size and powerful enough to suppress an engine room fire.  I met the MD of Marine Fire Safety at the Southampton Work Boat show and discussed problems we had been having with the present Pyrogen system.  He demonstrated the suitability of the Stat-X system and how versatile it was.  We required the system to shut down the engine room fans in addition to sounding an alarm/strobe beacon.  I entered an agreement to convert all 4 of our Estuary class boats with Marine Fire Safety during refits.
They have now completed 2 of our boats and have worked through initial wiring problems on the first, both boats were completed to both ours, and the MCA satisfaction, within the time frame and without undue duress.  They carry out an annual certification of each system to ensure serviceability.
We have also commissioned them to fit the Stat-X system in our new Orc Pilot boats being built at Goodchild’s Marine in Great Yarmouth.
