Frequently you hear reports of cars, vans, lorries, coaches and even farm vehicles catching fire and causing major traffic jams. Vehicles have many sources of ignition, and even with modern materials, fuel pipes, electric’s, etc., vehicles burn rapidly.
A hand held fire extinguisher is better than nothing, but it can also be dangerous, and lead to a false sense of security. Usually vehicle fires start in the engine compartment and a bonnet, (hood), can be very dangerous if not impossible to lift. The only safe thing to do is abandon the vehicle and call the fire brigade!
A fire extinguishing system fitted in the engine compartment can be activated automatically or manually from the cab. This gives true peace of mind, knowing the fire will be suppressed and in most cases extinguished fully and automatically. This gives occupants vital time to get clear and reduces repair costs.
Marine Fire Safety has two automatic vehicle systems, FirePro fire extinguishing aerosol system and Fireflex trace tube system.
